Day 2 Recap of U16 Grant Khomo Week

The second day of the U16 Grant Khomo Week wrapped up with a showcase of rugby talent at Grey High School. The matches highlighted the wins and the players’ skills, determination, and sportsmanship.

A standout game was between SWD U16 and DHL Western Province U16 XV. In a thrilling finish, SWD U16 secured a 34-31 victory over their opponents. The match took a turn in the half, as SWD U16 returned from an 8-22 halftime deficit to clinch the win. Jacobus De Villiers and Mark Hein Fourie delivered standout performances, with Fourie’s kicking skills proving decisive​​.

DHL Western Province U16 also competed against The Sharks High Schools U16 in a hard-fought battle that ended in a 19-13 win for Western Province. Esa Van Der Schyff, Ethan Van Biljon, and Mickyle Booise contributed to their teams’ scoring efforts​​.

In another gripping match, the Golden Lions U16 emerged victorious with a 19-12 win over Eastern Province U16.
Jaydon Viljoen was a standout player for the Golden Lions, scoring two tries and helping his team clinch an earned victory.

The Pumas U16 played a match against a Free State U16 team, failing to score in a 0-22 defeat. The Free State team’s cohesive gameplay and disciplined defence stood out, with multiple players getting past the try line.

Namibia U16 displayed dominance over Border CD U16 with a 31-7 win. Eduardo Dunn and Jade Langenhoven each scored twice, showcasing Namibia’s capabilities.

Limpopo Blue Bulls U16 emerged victorious over Zimbabwe U16 with a 29-18 win, demonstrating teamwork as several players contributed to the scoreline. Similarly, Griquas U16 surpassed Leopards U16 with a score of 19 7, led by Azingce Cofas’s try.

The Border U16 squad demonstrated resilience and strategic acumen in their match against Griffons U16, securing a 21-10 victory. Bongalethu Mxoli and Aaron James delivered performances by scoring tries for their team.
